Diodes PCN-2824: 207 Zetex Parts Hit Last Time Buy on 28 October 2026

Diodes PCN-2824 discontinues 207 parts. Last order date is 28 October 2026. Eighteen codes get no lifetime buy at all, and four common cross-reference "alternates" sit on the same notice.

Introduction

Diodes Incorporated issued product change notice PCN-2824 on 28 April 2026, discontinuing 207 ordering codes. The implementation date is 28 October 2026 — 22 days from today.

What makes this notice dangerous is not its size. It is how easily it gets misread. Check only the manufacturer's product page and you will see "NRND" and assume there is time. Open the PCN itself and the picture changes: some of these codes have no lifetime buy at all.

For procurement, this is a purely operational deadline. No market analysis required — just a line-by-line match of every Diodes and Zetex ordering code on your BOM against four tables, before the order book closes.

Fourteen codes carry the Q suffix for automotive-grade parts, including ZDT1049QTA, FMMT411QTA, FZT600BQTA and ZXMS6001N3QTA. If those sit on a Tier 1 programme, the problem is larger than a purchase order: any replacement needs a fresh PPAP, and that rarely fits inside the remaining weeks.

Four Tables Decide Your Options

PCN-2824 sorts all 207 codes into four tables. Only Tables 2 and 4 allow a lifetime buy.

Run both tracks: order and qualify in parallel

Table 1's 18 codes are the first priority — ZVN4210A, ZVN3306ASTZ and ZVP2110ASTZ among them. No replacement, no buffer period, no extension.

One detail that is easy to miss: match the full ordering code, not the base part number. The ZTX450 loose-reel code is still Active, while ZTX450STZ — the 2,000-piece reel variant — is NRND and appears in Table 2. Two buyers with "ZTX450" on their BOMs face opposite outcomes.

The Trap: Your "Alternates" Are on the Same Notice

This is the counter-intuitive part.

Online cross-reference sites answer "ZTX851 equivalent" with ZTX1047A, ZTX1048A, ZTX1049A, ZTX1051A and ZTX1053A. Four of those — ZTX1048A, ZTX1049A, ZTX1051A and ZTX1053A — are also in PCN-2824 Table 2. Qualifying one of them means replacing a discontinued part with another discontinued part that carries the same last order date.

The Zetex surface-mount versions engineers reach for next have the same problem: ZVN4206GV and ZVN4306GV (SOT-223) and ZVN3306F (SOT-23) all show NRND status today. They are not on PCN-2824, but moving to them simply swaps a dated end-of-life for an undated one.

Two practical rules follow. First, verify any cross-reference answer against the manufacturer's PCN before it reaches an approved vendor list. Second, note that some product pages lag the notice — a status check that only reads the web page shows "not recommended" when the real status is "last order in three weeks." Open the PCN document itself.

Don't Miss the Second Deadline: 5 November

Diodes has a second notice running in parallel: PCN-2822 (issued 5 May 2026, implementation date 5 November 2026). It discontinues a separate group of commodity discrete and analog parts, including MMBT3904, MMBT4401, S1G / RS1M / US1J, the SMAZ zener series, FMMT491/555/618/619/620/718 and FZT605 / FZT851.

These are low-cost, high-volume parts spread across control boards everywhere — exactly the kind that obsolescence reviews miss. Add PCN-2822 to the November materials plan now rather than after the October rush.

Buyer Action List

1.       Export every Diodes and Zetex line from the BOM with its full suffix (STZ, TA, TC, Q) and match each code against the four tables. Start with the 18 Table 1 codes.

2.       Size the buy to the high side: remaining production years × annual usage + field-service spares + scrap allowance. Note that STZ codes ship in 2,000-piece packs, which sets your ordering multiple.

3.       Run two tracks at once. Place the last time buy while qualifying the Table 4 replacements — the old part is still on the shelf to compare against.

4.       Move the PCN-2822 5 November deadline into the November plan.

5.       File three documents together: the PCN, the order confirmation and the manufacturer's certificate of conformance. That is exactly what a customer audit will ask for years from now.

One point of realism: the notice required written objection within 30 days, and that window closed on 28 May 2026. The only lever left is the order date. Do not expect an extension — JEDEC J-STD-048 sets a six-month minimum between notice and last order date, and Diodes has met exactly that minimum.

After 28 October, these parts come only from distributor stock, OEM surplus and brokers — where counterfeit risk rises sharply. There are no drop-in equivalents: most active substitutes change the footprint, so treat them as a PCB revision, not a swap.

How We Can Help

We cover 14 global brands — TI, Infineon, Diodes, AKM, ST, Allegro, NXP, onsemi, SEIKO NPC, TDK-Micronas, Melexis, ADI, Honeywell and ROHM — across analog, power, MCU, sensing and passives. For obsolescence deadlines like this one, we provide:

·         Obsolescence sweep: send us your BOM and we map every line against the PCN tables by risk tier

·         Last time buy support: quantity sizing, ordering multiples and delivery confirmation

·         Alternate validation: replacement options verified against the manufacturer PCN, including Diodes' new automotive-grade SBRFP rectifiers as drop-in alternatives to Schottky and PN-junction rectifiers

·         Sourcing with traceability: post-EOL channel stock with date codes and a documented chain back to the franchised channel
